Søren Gade was born on 27th January 1963 in Holstebro, son of shipmaster Poul Jørgensen and nurse Anna Gade Jørgensen.

Søren Gade completed primary school at Sønderlands School in 1979, graduated from Holstebro Upper Secondary School, social studies in 1982. Master of Science in Econnomics (Cand.oecon) at Aarhus University in 1990. IAA Diploma Course at the Danish School of Advertising 1999. He has been employed as International Market Analyst at Cheminova Agro A/S 1991-1993, Manager at Bilka 1993–1995, teacher at evening classes at Holstebro Business College 1997-1998, Chief Operating Finance Officer at Færch Plast A/S 1995-2001 and Head of Centre at RAR Regnskabscenter from 1st March 2001 to 23rd April 2004.

Non Commissioned Officers’ School at Sønderborg 1983, Commissioned Officers’ School at Oksbøl 1983, serving as officer with the Jutland Regiment of Dragoons 1983-85, Reserve Officer under contract, presently with the rank of major with the Jutland Regiment of Dragoons. Junior Staff Course for reserve officers 1988-1989, UN observer course 1990 and employed under contract as a UN observer with UNTSO in the Middle East 1990 – 91.
