The Danish Government strongly welcomes US and NATO initiative to support Ukraine through the delivery of American weapons and defence materials financed by Allies, including for Patriot air defence ammunition. To continue to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs, Denmark, Norway and Sweden will jointly fund one of the first weapons packages under the new initiative Prioritized Ukraine Requirement List (PURL).
The US and NATO have launched a new initiative for NATO allies to finance highly requested American weapons for Ukraine. The initiative consists of a series of weapons packages, which are assembled by the US in coordination with NATO and Ukraine.
The Danish Government has initially decided to contribute with approximately 90 million USD for the initiative. Together with Norway and Sweden, Denmark will finance a package with a total value of 500 million USD.
“This new initiative on American weapons for Ukraine will be an important element in Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s full scale invasion. Ukraine is under high pressure, especially from Russian air attacks, and needs further military support now. Therefore, it is positive that American weapons deliveries are made possible. Since the beginning of the war, Denmark has stood firmly with Ukraine, and we will continue to do so. Together with Sweden and Norway, the Danish government fully supports the new American initiative. It is crucial for Ukraine’s ability to defend itself that we continue to ensure transatlantic cooperation in support of Ukraine,” Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen says.

“Speed is absolutely critical. That is why we have decided to allocate funds to the initiative imidately. If at a later time there is a need for additional funding from the Ukrainian side, we are willing to consider that as well,” Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen says.
“Denmark has for a long time taken the lead in supporting Ukraine to strengthen the country’s position and contribute to Europe taking responsibility for increased military support. With Denmark financing military support together with Norway and Sweden, we are providing Ukraine with highly prioritized weapons systems and once again emphasizing that the Scandinavian countries are close and reliable allies within NATO. At the same time, we help preserve and strengthen the transatlantic cooperation, which is central to our common defence,” says Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
