Jakob Ellemann-Jensen is the new Minister of Defence in Denmark
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen has taken over as the new Danish Minister of Defence. He succeeds Morten Bødskov who has been in office since February 4th 2022.

Jakob Ellemann-Jensen had his first day in office on December 15th where he officially was handed the Depeche from former MoD Morten Bødskov.
“I am very proud to be the Minister of Defence in Denmark. The Danish Defence undertakes one of the most important tasks in society by protecting national security. Furthermore, this cause lies very close to my heart. The government has ambitious plans for the Danish Defence, and we are going to rearm the defence in order to fulfill our international obligations,” Jakob Ellemann-Jensen says.
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen has a degree in business law, and he was elected to Parliament in 2015. He was Minister of Environment and Food of Denmark in 2018-2019. Furthermore, he has a background in the Danish Army with whom he was deployed as a Captain with the Danish battalion in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1999-2000.
The MoD takes over from Morten Bødskov who held the position for ten months – a periode of time where the war in Ukraine has left its mark. Morten Bødskov states:
“It has been an honour to be the Minister of Defence. Russia´s attack on Ukraine has changed the world. With great cooperation between the vast majority of parties in Parliament as well as close cooperation with our allies, Denmark has been a significant support in the fight for Ukraine's freedom. I wish Jakob Ellemann-Jensen good luck with the job”.
