Denmark is contributing to strengthening and modernising training efforts for the Ukrainian troops, including new equipment and better infrastructure for a training centre. Acquisitions include instructional facilities, accommodation, sanitary facilities, and drones for training use.

Access to modern equipment and facilities, as well as secure accommodation, is essential to ensure that the Ukrainian soldiers receive the best possible training. The initiative, valued at approximately DKK 243 million, is financed through funding allocated under Donation Package 29.

“Since the beginning of the war, Denmark has supported Ukraine with donations of equipment and training of Ukrainian soldiers, and we will continue to do so. It is essential that Ukraine increasingly conducts training on its own territory, so that it can deliver faster operational effect on the battlefield. And with this initiative, we contribute to giving the soldiers the best possible conditions,” says Minister for Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.

The agreement has been concluded with the Ukrainian non-profit organisation, Come Back Alive, which will carry out the procurement of training equipment and infrastructure for training centres in Ukraine. This initiative is an example of an innovative new Danish support mechanism that enables the procurement of equipment from a broader range of Ukrainian suppliers than previously. Denmark can thereby strengthen training efforts for the Ukrainian forces while also supporting Ukraine’s defence industry.

The agreement, concluded in late 2025, stems from a Ukrainian request for the donation of a wide range of training equipment and associated infrastructure.

“I am grateful to Denmark for its consistent support, leadership and strategic partnership. Today, we are launching a unique infrastructure project. This is the first example of a strategic enhancement of military training capabilities in Ukraine with the support of our partners. Danish investments in infrastructure, equipment and drones make it possible to create modern and safe training conditions and deliver a rapid impact on the battlefield,” says Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov.

Denmark chose the organisation Come Back Alive on the recommendation of the Ukrainian and international partners.

“People are the main value and the true “game changers” in this war. All technologies and victories depend on them. Since 2015, “Come Back Alive” has been actively helping the state of Ukraine improving training and education of military personnel. This year, our cooperation is reaching a new level - together with the Ministry of Defence of Denmark, and with the support of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, we will implement the first large-scale project on building training infrastructure for the Defence Forces. Together, we will provide decent and safe conditions for the training of our drone operators and infantry - those the front line relies on today,” says Director of the “Come Back Alive” Foundation Taras Chmut.
